You
know you want a good massage without all the heavy duty price tags . And anyone
who's been to Bangkok or Chiang Mai knows there are literally hundreds of
places offering cheap massages. But how do you weed through them? What should
you be looking for before settling on one place over another? Here are 10
things you need to know before to the Body Massage Centres in Khar.
1.
Massage is not massage if it hurts : No matter how much
you want to believe it's all about the stretching and kneading, pain cannot be
called a 'massage'.
2.No
happy ending? There is no such thing as a
legitimate massage centre without extras! If there are no extras, you can bet
there are no legit massage centres.
3.
You can't bribe your way in or around it : Don't fall
for the 'official' line that police have been cracking down on these places and
thus you can't go in unless you know a 'brother'/ a friend of a friend. It's
crap. These places are legally registered businesses, they pay taxes and if
there really was a 'crackdown' they would have to shut down.
4.
Don't expect great service : You're paying for an
hour of relaxation, not super-star treatment ; don't go in expecting the next
five star spa experience at one tenth the price. And these are no massage
parlours!
5.
Call ahead, don't just show up : If they give you an
address, it's no guarantee that the place is still there. Call first to find
out exactly where they are and what's available (i.e., ask if any extras are
included in the price).
6.
It's not all about massage : Sure they'll tell
you otherwise, but sometimes the extras will be available no matter what you
tell them.
7.
They can cancel or change appointments any time :
You may get all excited about your new friend, only to get stood up. Or worse
yet, told that she's not available when you show up at the door (and they won't
refund your money) .
8.
Keep your wits about you: Always meet in public and
preferably somewhere frequented by other people.
9.
You'll need to shower before and after : Just not at the
massage place, unless they have their own facilities. It's just good hygiene to
take a quick shower before hitting the sheets...or futon or table or whatever.
10.
Go with the flow: Some places will recommend that you
wear loose fitting clothing, others won't mind if you're dressed up in the Body
Massage Centres in Khar. Always bring a change of clothes and leave
your valuables at home .
